I am a local musician and DJ and I am a transfer student from Central Piedmont Community College. My Major at Charlotte is Communications & Mass Media. I was interested in broadcasting but I felt choosing this degree would somehow lead me to some broadcasting opportunities. Along the way, I discovered the Film Studies Minor and took some classes in Film; my Independent short film was selected to be shown at UNC Charlotte’s 2022 ‘Golden Reel Film Festival’. After this accomplishment, I discovered Uptown Audio (student run Podcast Company at UNC Charlotte). I started to record some episodes and my Podcast was awarded in the 2023 Niner Media Awards for ‘Best Show Host’, ‘Best Podcast’ and ‘Best Podcast Episode w/The Sour’. I also completed a minor in History and in Theatre. I have loved being a student here and the opportunities provided to me as a 49er!
Terry’s advice: Enjoy this beautiful campus! OASES and the Career Center are marvelous resources for seeking help with resumes and college development. I also would look into the tutoring labs that are on campus. Go to the basketball and football games because I loved being a part of the school spirit and the feeling of being a 49er!
